I went through a period in my life where I had a massive imbalance, my property business took up most of my time, I had taken on a lot in a short period of time, there was little room for anything else… Maybe some of you can relate?!.
I was hugely focused on achieving Financial Freedom, I really wanted to quit my job and be the hands-on new Mum I wanted to be, I gave myself a timeline that was very ambitious. Thankfully it all paid off BUT I think I would have achieved even more in that time period had I of taken better care of myself. A few things I wish I had done in hindsight on my journey to freedom
Take Time to look after little ole you.
I saw my business partner the other day, and I’m very excited about our future ventures. One thing she said to me was she’s really proud of what we achieved, but felt we hit 80% of what we could have. I agreed, and it got me thinking…. the 20% loss was down to tiredness and stress and I wish I had taken time for me.
Set a day aside a week for Wonderful ‘You’ time.
I made a commitment to myself some time ago to carve out precious time (alone) every single week, on a Wednesday as a non-negotiable item in my calendar.
The result? The last 18-24 months I’ve been doing this my capacity for stress, load, focus, and our bank account have gone through the roof. My husband even commented a few months ago- who are you? It’s like you’ve gone to another level and seem so peaceful and happy.
Find a quiet place.
When I go out each week I have no agenda other than to find a quiet place. Last week I found myself walking around this beautiful place, found a quiet corner, had a coffee, read a book, watched a lady write her stack of Christmas cards with her dog at her feet and finalized the final stretch of my year putting first things first.
Let’s see where today takes me, but just want to encourage all of you high achievers on here to carve out regular space alone, your performance on the ground will go to the next level.
